Standard elevator plants that are located on the outer edges of the building, where the sides of the elevator car are made of safety glass (safety first) and thus allow panoramic viewing of the immediate vicinity of the building (much more effective if the building is extremely high) and the whole subgroup of elevator plants got its name.
They can be electric (friction) or hydraulic depending on the lifting height and the clients requirements.
